Relevents Wind Quintet was founded in 2008 by a group of professional musicians in Greensboro, NC who were looking for the exceptional collaborative experience that only chamber music can provide. The group performed throughout Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia and made their international debut on a tour of southern Germany in March, 2009. Dedicated performers and teachers, the individual members were all at one point on the faculty of High Point University, held teaching positions at other universities throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and maintained active performance schedules with symphonies throughout North Carolina and the southeast.
Relevents focused on removing the traditional boundaries that exist between the performer and the audience. By performing in both traditional and non-traditional venues, Relevents worked to welcome new fans to the world of wind quintet repertoire.
“We strive to present exciting and diverse programs, performing standards as well as new works for the wind quintet developed through close collaboration with up and coming composers. We are committed to performing music that is relevant to each of us and to our time.”
Relevents‘ final performance took place in 2014. Many of the members have since moved away from Greensboro, taking teaching positions as far away as Idaho. The six years we performed together were a highlight of my musical career!
